Instrumentation salinity trial at Kollumerwaard research station

Since this season, measurements for climate, soil moisture, salinization and groundwater level have been carried out at the Kollumerwaard experimental farm with sensors from RMA.

Seepage is simulated via underground drip hoses by dripping with both salt and fresh water. The effects on the yield of various crops are being mapped by the SPNA research team. With sensors up to 80cm below ground level, RMA measures soil moisture, temperature and salinity every 10cm. The groundwater level, temperature and salinity are also measured in a monitoring well. RMA installed a weather station to calculate crop evaporation.
