Project Monitoring Nitrates completed

The "Monitoring Water Quality UK" demonstration project to monitor nitrate loads and changes around the Grafham reservoir has been successfully completed.

In this demonstration project, in collaboration with Anglian Water in England, several measuring systems were deployed to monitor water quality, including nitrate, online using RMA sensor technology. The measuring systems were used for four seasons, lasting a year, to improve water quality in the drinking water reservoirs. Because measurements are taken upstream of the pumping stations, an early warning can be given to stop pumping, preventing contaminated water from being processed. The project was made possible in part by financial support from the Dutch government's DHI scheme.
